Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point ( HACCP)
http://www.foodsafety.gov/~fsg/fsghaccp.html
The Food and Drug Administration has adopted a food safety that focuses on preventing hazards that could cause food-borne illnesses by applying science-based controls, from raw material to finished products.
The system is known as Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point, or HACCP (pronounced hassip).
HACCP involves seven principles:
- Analyze hazards.
- Identify critical control points.
- Establish preventive measures with critical limits for each control point.
- Establish procedures to monitor the critical control points.
- Establish corrective actions to be taken when monitoring shows that a critical limit has not been met.
- Establish procedures to verify that the system is working properly.
- Establish effective recordkeeping to document the HACCP system.

International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
http://www.iso.org/iso/en/iso9000-14000/certification/index_two.html
ISO's principal activity is the development of technical standards, which have important economic and social repercussions. ISO standards help make the development, manufacturing and supply of products and services more efficient, safer and cleaner. They make trade between countries easier and fairer. They provide governments with a technical base for health, safety and environmental legislation. They aid in transferring technology to developing countries. ISO standards also serve to safeguard consumers, and users in general, of products and services - as well as to make their lives simpler.
The ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 families are among ISO's most widely known standards and are implemented by some 760 900 organizations in 154 countries. ISO 9000 is an international reference for quality management requirements in business-to-business dealings, and ISO 14000 enables organizations to meet their environmental challenges.
The vast majority of ISO standards are specific to a particular product, material, or process. However, ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 standards are known as "generic management system standards".
